This may sound like the beginning to a bad joke, but do you really know where all of your equipment is positioned relative to the center of the processing line and to each other?  Machine misalignment causes quality, yield and wear issues in rolling mills, caster lines and various material handling lines.At KMA not only do we understand the cause and effect relationship of misalignment problems we have the equipment to be able to determine true position of each component on the processing line.  We utilize the industry standard in laser measuring equipment, FARO, to be able to survey a processing line.

A laser gives us the ability to measure an entire line, as long as there is line of sight.  In many cases we can even accommodate the survey without having complete line of sight access.

If your equipment is running well a survey can provide a baseline to monitor your line from in relation to running time.  Periodic checks from the baseline serve as an excellent predictive maintenance tool.

If your equipment is not performing as it should, then a survey can be the beginning to the problem solving methodology.  After the survey is complete we are able to report the position of each piece of equipment relative to the processing line and each other.  We are also able to report any movement that may only be present when line is operating rather than idle.  In many cases this can be an indicator of the root of an issue.

After the survey is complete we are able to ascertain whether the equipment is positioned as it should be or if there is movement caused be the processing.  This is the basis and start of any good problem solving effort or predictive maintenance baseline.

In addition to the actual surveying, KMA is able to create 3D models of the equipment in order to better represent the situation, results and conclusions.
